Whitley Bay frustrated by free weekend

Have your say

With scheduled opponents Celtic Nation involved in a Cumberland Senior Cup tie, Whitley Bay are without a game this weekend, which is a frustration for the club after four recent fixtures have succumbed to the wet weather.

However, there is a game for Bay fans next Tuesday evening, March 4, when Crook Town are the visitors to Hillheads for the first time in 13 years.

Crook were promoted at the end of last season after a lengthy period in division two and made an excellent start, which included a 3-0 win over Whitley at Millfield,

But since then their form has dipped and they are in mid-table, just below Whitley.

Tuesday’s game will see acting management duo Leon Ryan and Steve Foster in charge at Hillheads for the first time and they will be determined to maintain their winning start following the victory at Bishop Auckland, which ended a four-match losing sequence.
