ALONG with the entire local non league programme, Whitley Bay’s fourth round FA Vase game away to Brantham Athletic on Saturday was postponed, with the Suffolk club’s pitch frozen.
The game is now scheduled to be played this coming Saturday.
But with the bad weather expected to continue for the rest of the week, the game could be put back until the following Saturday.
All 16 FA Vase ties fell victim to the wintry weather but the draw for the fifth round went ahead as scheduled on Monday.
If they can overcome Brantham, Whitley will be at home in the fifth round to the winners of the game between Bitton, from the Bristol area, and fellow Northern League side Shildon.
While minds will be firmly on the Brantham game, the prospect of a home tie in the next round is obviously encouraging, although Whitley would have preferred to avoid the possibility of meeting Northern League opponents.
The fifth round games are due to be played on Saturday, February 9.
