After their two FA Cup ties against Bridington, Whitley Bay will return to Northern League action on Saturday when they travel to Bishop Auckland.
Bishops have made a good start to the season, winning both of their opening two games, including a local derby at West Auckland, but like Whitley they were held to a draw in the FA Cup on Saturday and faced a midweek replay.
Whitley have a remarkably good record against the ‘Two Blues’, having won 15 of the last 16 league games between the sides.
Last February’s encounter at Heritage Park marked Leon Ryan’s first game as manager, when the new boss guided his side to a 2-1 victory, both goals coming from Paul Chow.
Ryan will be back in charge of the team on Saturday having returned from holiday during the week.
Whitley do not have a game on Bank Holiday Monday, giving them a free week and allowing time for players to recuperate and recover from injuries after a hectic opening to the new season.
