Two of Whitley Bay Football Club’s most talented young players have committed themselves to the club by signing contracts that will keep them at Hillheads until at least the end of next season.
Midfielder Alex Kempster broke into the first team this season and has scored four goals, including the winner in the League Cup tie at West Auckland last Tuesday, while left back Chris McDonald has made an immediate impression since arriving at Hillheads little over a month ago.
In addition, 23-year-old Callum Anderson has signed a two year extension to his existing contract. Callum along with Bay captain Paul Chow, has been named in the Northern League representative squad to play in the league’s 125th anniversary game against a FA XI next week, and was a member of the club’s FA Vase winning sides in 2010 and 2011.
Chairman Paul McIlduff was delighted to see the players put pen to paper. “This is excellent news for Whitley Bay Football Club. These three young players are key members of the squad as we build for the future.”
Player/manager Leon Ryan added: “Can I go on record by thanking the players for their loyalty, professionalism and desire to remain at Whitley Bay.”
He also thanked the directors for their backing and in particular the chairman for pushing the deals over the line.
