A rampant Whitley Bay ran riot in the second half of Tuesday evening’s game at struggling Celtic Nation.
The Carlisle side had battled hard in the opening half and were a shade unlucky to go in a goal down.
The breakthrough came with the last kick off the half, Peter Watling scoring from the penalty spot after a trip on Robbie Bird.
The floodgates opened after the interval with Bird doubling the lead on 50 minutes.
Bird then set up Alex Kempster for the third just past the hour and Watling made it 4-0 ten minutes later.
Otway pulled one back for the Cumbrians but two goals in a minute late in the game completed the rout, with Scott Blandford heading home before Kempster got number six.
This was Whitley’s third win in ten days and sets them up nicely for Saturday’s visit to Morpeth Town.
Whitley Bay: Flynn, Cave, McDonald, Ferrell, Laws, McGarr, Norris, Blandford, Watling (H Laws), Bird (McBride), Kempster.
