As part of the celebrations marking the 125th anniversary of the Northern League, there will be a four match ‘groundhop’ for football fans on Saturday, when kick-off times of four games in the east end of Newcastle have been staggered to allow fans to watch all of them.
The programme gets under way at 10.30am at Heaton Stannington and is followed by West Allotment’s game at 1.15pm, while barely a mile away, Whitley Bay will meet Team Northumbria in the third of the games, with the kick-off at 4pm. The event concludes at Newcastle Benfield where their game has a 7pm kick-off.
For Whitley Bay this will be their second visit of the season to Coach Lane, following their FA Cup tie in August which resulted in a disappointing 2-1 defeat.
The home side have struggled in recent weeks and are lying five places below Whitley, so this will be an excellent chance to pick up three points.
Whitley will have Chris Fawcett available again and will be hoping that other recent absentees have recovered from illness and injury in time for this game.
For the first time since August, Whitley do not have a midweek game scheduled for next week.
