TYNEMOUTH Yellows got back to league action and were eager to test themselves against the league leaders, putting in a determined display.

Hazelrigg nearly opened the scoring after three minutes when a right wing shot hit the post while Yellows keeper Joe Shepherd had to tip a goalbound effort over the bar.

Tynemouth opened the scoring after six minutes when Josh Leighton powered home a long range effort, with the visitors doubling their lead five minutes later after Oliver Harrison rounded the keeper and slid the ball home.

Sam Heggie hit the post for the visitors before Hazelrigg pulled one back when a right wing cross took a wicked swerve and ended up in the net.

Shepherd kept the Yellows in the game with a string of fine saves until he was finally beaten in the second half with a low strike.

Hazelrigg had a goal disallowed for offside before the referee controversially overruled the linesman on another offside decision and allowed the goal to stand.

Heggie then pounced on a goalmouth scramble to fire the Yellows back on level terms, before Hazelrigg got the winner five minutes from time.
