TYNEMOUTH Yellows Under-11s and Haltwhistle United met for the first time this season and played out a 2-2 draw in windswept and blustery conditions at the weekend.
Spectacular goals from Luca Buzzeo and man of the match Jamie Wills ensured Tynemouth carried on with their recent impressive run of form and remain unbeaten away from home this season.
Despite the windy conditions, the early exchanges between both teams was good to watch and it was the home team that drew first blood.
Haltwhistle’s left winger collected the ball in midfield, ran toward goal and calmly slotted the ball into the net past the outstretched Daniel Jackson.
But it only took Tynemouth four minutes to draw level.
A good through ball from Wills found Buzzeo and he had no problem in finding the back of the net.
The second half saw Haltwhistle go straight on to the attack.
Jackson had to be on hand to prevent the home side from taking an early second half lead.
However, Haltwhistle did go ahead for the second time in the game on the 45th minute when one of their midfielders hit a speculative effort from 30-yards.
The ball caught the wind and sailed into the back of the net, leaving the keeper no chance.
Tynemouth pressed for an equaliser and deservedlygot back into the game when Jamie Wills hit a cracker of a goal.
Wills received the ball on the left wing, cut inside and then let rip a beauty of a shot that had no trouble finding the back of the net.
After this, there were chances for both teams to score but in the end a draw was a fair result.
Tynemouth Yellows remain seventh in the league and keep a two-point advantage over Haltwhistle with a game in hand.
