TYNEMOUTH United under 11s Yellows are celebrating after landing a hat-trick of sponsors.
They have the backing of 121 Building Services, Plant & Consumable Services and Towne Lifting and Testing.
121 Building Services owner Trevor Hope said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for us to get involved with a local and longstanding football club and we are proud to sponsor the team for this season.”
The Yellows – run by Dave McKie, Michael Harrison and Nigel Chandler – are in their first year at 11-a-side and play their home games on a Saturday morning at Valley Gardens Middle School, Whitley Bay.
They got their league season under way against Hexham Greens and quickly learnt that they need 100 per cent concentration at all times.
Yellows went a goal down after only a minute but they equalised within a minute when a through ball from Bradley Ord found Oliver Harrison on the right wing, he rode a challenge and smashed a great effort over the advancing keeper.
Stand-in keeper Jamie Wills made a number of important saves that kept the Yellows in the game while their defenders also stood firm.
Wills was penalised for a foul in the 17th minute but the penalty was smashed against the bar.
A couple of substitutions by Tynemouth appeared to unsettle them as they soon fell two behind and Hexham then scored another.
The second half started brightly with both teams passing the ball around well. However, Hexham scored three in quick succession.
Harry Richardson, Ord and Harrison all had chances saved by the Hexham goalkeeper.
The Yellows then conceded two goals in the closing stages.
