Advice to help develop sports clubs in community
SPORTS clubs in North Tyneside are being invited to an event aiming to help them develop their clubs.
ClubWorks – being organised by Northumberland Sport and Tyne and Wear Sport – will include a number of workshops to show clubs how to increase and retain members, strengthen links with local communities, prepare funding applications, and use social media to raise the club’s profile.
It is due to take place at Kingston Park Stadium, Newcastle, on Tuesday, February 21, with doors opening for a buffet at 5.30pm.
Guest speaker Svend Elkjaer, founder and managing director of Sports Marketing Network, said: “I am really looking forward to the ClubWorks evening in Newcastle, which provides an excellent development opportunity for local sports clubs.
“This will also provide an ideal networking opportunity for clubs to interact with one another, which usually stimulates a good learning environment, resulting in lots of new innovative solutions for strengthening local clubs.”
Ian Simon, executive director for Tyne & Wear Sport, said: “By working with colleagues from Northumberland Sport, we’re delighted to be able to offer this development opportunity for our local sports clubs, who have always and will continue to play a pivotal role in the development of grassroots sport in Northumberland and Tyne & Wear.”
