Boost for youngsters

YOUNG rugby players have been given a boost in improving their skills.

The Rotary Club of Monkseaton Centenary has presented ten hand-stitched leather size 4 rugby balls to Rockcliff Rugby Club for use by their junior teams.

The presentation was made by president elect Barbara Connors-Fowler at an under six training session.

Mrs Connors-Fowler said she had always been impressed by the work the volunteer coaches put in and the rotary club wanted to help as part of their youth opportunities committee's Sport for All programme.

Thanking the rotary club for their gift, trainer Suzanne Sutherland said they always had a need for good quality rugby balls at the club.

"I am so pleased that Rotary thought of us when they were looking for a local sports organisation to support," she said.
