Excellent away win for Rangers at Jarrovians

IN the Northumberland River Derwent League, Whitley Bay Rockcliff Rangers recorded an excellent away win at Jarrovians 2nds, their seventh away game in nine league matches this season.

Mickey Blake and Jamie Shardlow were the stand out players for Rockcliff, with lock Sean Edney putting in a good shift in the engine room and Karl Briggs in good form at scrum-half.

Blake opened the scoring for Rangers, touching down after being driven over the line by Lawrence Fletcher.

Dave Swinburne added the conversion.

Dan Carlisle added Rangers’ second after Fletcher and Briggs combined to send him through to score.

The win leaves Rangers in fourth place in the league, their best showing since they last won the title in 2005.
