Judo club’s members earn grades in techniques

Students from Seghill and Battlehill Judo Club's participated in a Judo course at Seghill's Institute building.

Students from Seghill and Battlehill Judo Club's participated in a Judo course at Seghill's Institute building.

STUDENTS from Seghill and Battle Hill Judo Clubs took part in a judo course at Seghill’s Institute building.

They performed moves under the guidance of Shodans Billy Snowdon, Steve Smith, Damien Anderson and Darren May.

Students were put through their paces in tachi waza (standing techniques) and nage waza (groundwork techniques) including various counter and combination techniques.

Sharon May 4th Dan was also on hand to examine students for promotion, and the following promotions were awarded:

White + 1 Yellow Taylor Naseby, Jason Smith and Owen Moody

White + 2 Yellow James Lowden, Ryan Norris and Devyn Moore

White + 3 Yellow Sean Young and Callum McKenzie

White + 1 Green Joe Moody and Megan Moody

Red + 2 Reece Moody and Joseph Landells

Orange + 1 Chris Sayers

Green + 3 Allanah Harvey

Blue + 1, Tonicha Brown

Blue + 2 Kieran Tweedy

Brown + 1 Porl Harvey.

• Battle Hill Judo club presented two annual awards at the club’s Christmas Party.

Most successful competitor was awarded to Joe Moody for the second consecutive year, whilst Judoka of the year award was presented to Sean Young, as the club’s most improved player.

Battle Hill Judo club classes are on a Wednesday evening at 5.30pm in Churchill Community College.
