Max one step closer to national selection after being picked for region
Max Ruddick, from Whitley Bay, has been selected for the Tyne and Wear Independent Schools U13 team for the first time.
A TALENTED young footballer is making his way up the ranks after being selected to represent the north east.
A week after making his debut for the Tyne and Wear Independent Schools Under-13 team, Max Ruddick, pictured, has been chosen for the North East Independent Schools (NEISFA) Under-13 team.
The 12-year-old from Whitley Bay will play at the Repton 11-a-side festival in March.
Nine different regions will participate in nine rounds of matches lasting 20 minutes each way with each region receiving one bye at some point.
The tournament also acts as a trial for the national under-14 ISFA development squad who will go on to play academy sides.
Centre-half Max plays for Wallsend Boys’ Club Under-13s and Forest Hall AFC.
He also plays under-13 football and rugby at the King’s School in Tynemouth.
Year 8 pupil Max said: “I enjoyed the county game and I’m pleased to have been selected for the region.
“It’s an inspiration to keep going. National selection would be a great achievement.”
King’s head of games Rob Snow said: “Max is a good, big centre half and not much gets past him, so it’s no surprise that the regional selectors have been impressed by him.
“His talent and determination are paying real dividends.”
