Parade route for open top bus tour

WHITLEY BAY FC will celebrate their victory with an open top bus tour around the town on Sunday.

The players will travel from Hillheads around the town, showing off the trophy before returning to the ground where there will be a fun day, which everyone is invited to attend.

The bus will leave Hillheads at noon and travel past Morrisons into the town centre.

It will take in Whitley Road and Station Road to the Metro station.

It will then return via Victoria Terrace to Park Avenue and Marine Avenue.

The bus will head along the seafront to St Mary's car park.

It will then return along the Links and Promenade through Cullercoats to Front Street in Tynemouth, then along Front Street then Percy Park Road to return to the Promenade.

The bus will then follow the Promenade north to Cullercoats, go left at John Street to Whitley Road and back to the town centre along Park View to Marine Avenue.

Then it is up through Front Street, Monkseaton, to Seatonville Road and back to Hillheads.

The whole route is expected to take an hour.

Back at Hillheads the club will celebrate the success of the teams associated with the Whitley Bay FC, and its youth academy.

Neighbourhood Chief Inspector Max Black said: "It's a great achievement for Whitley Bay FC to play at Wembley and win the FA Carlsberg vase.

"I hope their victory parade is a big success. There is plenty of room for fans and visitors to watch the parade along the Links, Promenade and Grand Parade seafront, where they will also have good vantage points."

John Fleet, North Tyneside Council's town centres manager said: "This Wembley win by Whitley Bay FC is a tremendous boost for the town.

"Now we are working hard with the chamber of trade to ensure that the team receives a warm and colourful welcome on Sunday."
