Under-14 boys lie third after two local wins

CULLERCOATS Tennis Club’s under-14s boys team currently sit third in the North East Winter Tennis League after back to back wins over local rivals Beverley Park and Collingwood.

The team of Ryan Maughan, Robert Conway, Alistair Brophy, Tom Whiting Adams and Andre Streimann backed up a recent success over Beverley Park by beating Collingwood 5-1

Whiting Adams won his singles and teamed up well with Brophy to take the doubles in three sets and two rubbers for the team.

Cullercoats mini tennis red team currently sit second in the North East Winter Mini Indoor Leagues after a good 13-3 win over Morpeth.

The team of Paul Freeman, Sam Knowles, Zoe Parkin and Jonny Jordan were not quite experienced enough for an older Ponteland team at the last outing, coming off with court a 13-3 reverse scoreline.

Cullercoats mini red B team of Oscar Daniel, Luke Fawson, Olivia Peterson, Kate Ovington, Alisa Rigg and Marley Rhodes have shown promise in an equally hard league.

In the mini Orange nine and under league, Freddy Stewart has led the way winning most of his singles and combining well with the much improved number one girl Emma Charlton.

In the North East Winter Boys-18s Tennis League, Cullercoats have struggled to get a team out with so many players ineligible with too high ratings.

But Phil Rudd and Joe Haines have competed well with a good few years in the age group and Ben Shaw has stepped up an age group and not just competed but won the team some rubbers.
