A family affair at tennis club’s finals day

IT was a family affair at the recent Cullercoats Tennis Club finals day.

Brother and sister Sam and Abigail Lemberger won the mixed doubles.

Abigail completed the hat-trick by winning the ladies’ singles and ladies’ doubles, and Sam won the men’s singles.

Abigail beat Sveta Freeman 6-4 5-7 6-4 to take the singles title.

Abigail partnered Sveta to victory against Rachel Knowles and Sally Bryson in the ladies’ doubles, 6-4 6-3.

She and Sam overcame Rachel Knowles and Jordan Simpson 6-4 6-4 in the mixed doubles.

Sam beat Jordan Simpson 6-3 6-1 in the men’s singles.

In the junior competitions, Jonny Jordan won the boys’ mini red with victory over Paul Freeman and Zoe Parkin won the girls’ mini red after beating Olivia Peterson.

In the mini oranges, Jonny Jordan beat Jared Flannery for the boys’ title and Emma Charlton overcame Ellie Boyes for the girls’.

Freddie Stewart won the boys’ mini green with victory over Joseph Angus and Rachel Foreman won the girls’ mini green after beating Charlotte Brockett.

Tom Whiting Adams took the boys’ under 12 title after overcoming Andre Streiman.

The boys’ under 14 title crown was won by Dan Simpson with victory over Robert Conway.

Jordan Simpson won the boys’ under 16 title after beating Martin Slater.
