NORTH Tyneside Badminton Academy is opening its doors to new junior members who are entitled to a free taster session during May and June.
The taster sessions are open to all children aged eight to 16 who want to be involved in badminton, have fun and join its coaching pathway, which can lead to being involved in competitive play and junior leagues.
The academy has three squads of varying levels and children can progress to the development squad and have the opportunity to play competitively.
The sessions are run by qualified level 1 and 2 coaches who implement techniques as applied by Badminton England to enable the children to reach their full potential.
The academy is affiliated to Badminton England, The Newcastle United Foundation, Sport England and Whitley Bay Adult Badminton Club.
For a free session call club secretary Pamela Ferguson on 07765 371683.
Sessions take place on Sundays from 10am until noon at John Spence High School in North Shields. Normal sessions run during school term timetables every Sunday from September to July.
