Cadets are second in regatta

TWO teams from TS Whitley Sea Cadets came a close second in their respective groups in the recent District Rowing Regatta at TS Northumbria.

Both the junior boys and open girls’ teams runners-up, despite having little time to get used to their new Trinity boats and two cadets rowing for the first time on the day.

Each team of five had to complete lengths of more than 500 metres in three separate races.

Having won their first race and then second in the next, the girls finished second behind TS Ashington.

The boys came second in their first two races but were thwarted as TS Gosforth took an unasailable lead after winning both opening races.

Cadets were:

Girls: AC Oliver Kelly (coxswain), AC Jamie Stewart, AC Charlotte Tribe, OC Emily Burstone, OC Charlotte Brass

Boys: AC Sean Garrity (coxswain), Cadet George Shipley-Armstrong, Cadet Jordan Stoneman, OC Matthew Fenwick, OC Adam Clarke and reserve Cadet Jack Briggs.
