TYNEMET Gymnastics Club recently proved that since opening a year ago they have gone from strength to strength after walking away from South Durham Gymnastics Club with an array of medals and ribbons.
They competed against seven other clubs and were rewarded for all their work and effort leading up to the competition with awards in a number of categories.
In the under-10 girls they won gold and silver medals and a sixth place ribbon.
In the under-10 mixed they won a silver medal while in the under-12 girls they took a sixth place ribbon and the under-14 girls won a gold medal.
For some of the members, this was their first ever competition so the achievements were of huge importance to the club.
The gymnasts performed to a high standard throughout the day and were cheered on by and family and friends as well as fellow club members.
It was a moral boosting gesture that did not go unnoticed by the club and coaches.
Lynsey White, head coach at TyneMet Gymnastics Club, said: “All of the coaches are delighted with the results of the competition.
“We were amazed at how professional and polished the gymnasts were.
“We were thrilled that some gymnasts who had never competed before came away with gold medals.
“The club is definitely on the right track.
“We hope that the club will continue with its successful run of achievements in the future, and our next competition is in March next year at the Parks in South Shields.”
The TyneMet Gymnastics Club has three squad levels, beginners, pre-squad and squad, and the club is open to anyone over four years of age.
