Tynemouth ASC have a new head coach as they look to being the number one club in the north east.
Chris Reekie has been appointed to the position having most recently worked as assistant head coach and age group coach with the borough of Stockton.
It is a return to Tynemouth for Reekie as he used to coach at the club when he was younger.
He has also been working as a coach for the England Talent Programme and head coach of the Northumberland & Durham Development Camp in which some swimmers from Tynemouth were involved.
He said: “I have a lot of ideas on how to help and work with all swimmers and coaches involved in the club to improve and develop their skills.
“I want to promote an enjoyable but hard working team environment in which we can all gain individual and team success.
“Over the coming weeks I will be working closely with Tracey, the coaches and teachers and the committee to gain an understanding of what will work best for the club and it’s swimmers, and to ensure we have an appropriate training and competitive programme in place to support the development and progression of all swimmers in the club.
“The club will be supported in doing this by Fred Kirby, who is the lead for the Beacon Programme and who mentors many coaches across the region.”
Parents are invited to take their young swimmers along to the club on the first Friday of the month at 7.30pm to see how they can be a part. Every Age is welcome at Tynemouth ASC
