Tynemouth Cricket Club are hoping to appoint a new chairman at their forthcoming AGM.

Outgoing chairman Russell Perry announced earlier in the year he was standing down due to pressure of other commitments with the Northumberland Cricket Board.

The AGM, the club’s 168th, will take place at 7pm at the Preston Avenue ground on Wednesday, March 18.

The team captains and committee officials will also be decided. All members and associates are encouraged to attend.

Elsewhere, senior and junior indoor net sessions are ongoing as the club prepares for another exciting season.

The senior midweek team will play in the North-East Mid-Week Cricket League for the first time although several of the players have already experienced playing for other teams in that league.

The second pitch on the field behind the pavilion, a legacy to the sterling efforts of Perry, will be fully utilised for the first time.

There will be three senior teams playing on a Saturday. New players will be welcomed.
