Six teams took part in the Rotary Club of Tynemouth’s annual bowls competition in memory of past president Nigel Monckton-Milnes.

The event was held in the indoor rink at the Parks Sports and Leisure centre in North Shields and the evening was organised by past president Jim Davidson.

Bowlers of varying expertise were paired by drawing names from a hat and the eventual winners were Murray Shand and Peter Thompson.

The evening was rounded off with a meal at the sports centre.

President David Milligan said:” This once again proved to be a very good fellowship evening for the members played in a light-hearted manner.

“The trophy is a fitting tribute to Nigel, who was an active member of the club and is remembered with affection by us all.”
