COLLEGE staff have been seeing first hand the benefits of links with Newcastle Eagles basketball team.

Officials from TyneMet College were guests of honour at the Eagles home clash against Durham Wildcats which had special interest with student Lamar Morrison and former Queen Alexandra Sixth Form College student Ross Wilson among the Eagles ranks.

Full time college students have the chance to join the North East Sports Academy (NESA).

Mark McCutcheon, head of NESA, said: “NESA offers students the perfect environment in which to develop their sporting talents and career whilst they study an academic or vocational qualification.

“We are delighted with the career opportunities that Ross and Lamar now have and their attitude to work with NESA staff Marc Steutel and Chris Brown has been first class.”

College principal Jon Vincent added: “TyneMet has over many years developed a fantastic relationship with the Newcastle Eagles and are extremely proud of both Lamar and Ross, they are very talented players and great ambassadors for both the Eagles and College.”
