COLLINGWOOD Tennis Club’s girls team look to have retained their Northumberland and Durham county girls’ 12 and under title after a resounding victory over Shotley and Benfieldside.

The team of Laura Van Ransbeke, Esmai Jonzcyk-Brown, Hannah Chapman and Emily Harrison had a superb 6-0 victory, which with other victories over Beverley Park, Esporta Wearside and a close loss to Ponteland, should just about secure the title for a second year on the trot for the Tynemouth club.

Lucy Cox, Grace Fatkin and Molly Robinson did not play in the last match but played their part in a strong squad performance.

Where many clubs struggle to get a girls team to play, Collingwood is thriving with county winning girls at eight, nine and 12 and under ages.

Tennis camps are running every school holiday for all ages from Collingwood and Cullercoats clubs alternately and run from Tuesday to Friday, 10am-2pm. Contact club coach Stuart Cass on 07787 543072 or stuart.cass4@gmail.com for details.
