COLLINGWOOD Tennis Club’s girls under-16s and under-12s teams capped a historic season by winning all four of the Northumberland and Durham girls’ leagues.
At a time when many clubs are struggling to enter one girls’ team, Collingwood had a team in every league and ended winning every county league.
Collingwood girls’ 16s ‘A’ team of Laura Van Ransbeke, Ailsa Denholm, Esmai Jonczyk-Brown, Samm Brown and Kirsty Hall topped the league with four wins out of five with Van Ransbeke and Denholm doing particularly well, going the entire season unbeaten.
The girls’ 16s ‘B’ team of Hannah Chapman, Joanne Cooper, Amy Hedworth, Lauren Wall, Adeline Myburgh and Molly Robinson won their league by a narrow margin of one win.
Collingwood girls’ 12s ‘A’ team won all five matches to top the Northumberland and Durham ‘A’ league with 83 per cent wins. Laura Van Ransbeke and Emily Harrison formed an unbeatable doubles team again going unbeaten over the season and with Laura Day, Molly Robinson and Lucy Cox a solid number three, four and five backed up by debuts from ‘B’ team players Mia Wallace and Anna Winship the team won the title convincingly.
Competitive performances from the girls 12s ‘B’ team of Mia Wallace, Clara Loughlin, Anna Winship, Jasmine Hacioglu and Libby Hall saw them win the league with five wins from five.
