Collingwood Tennis Club boys’ 16s team are top of the Northumberland 16s League after a fantastic win against a much older and stronger Blaydon team last weekend at Priors Park.
Gabe Allonby showed great character to grind out a result against a much more powerful opponent, eventually winning the third set tie-break.
With brother Sam Allonby taking the No. 1 singles in straight sets and Noah Neill and Matt Smith showing doubles expertise, Collingwood took a 3-0 lead at the break.
Neill and Smith then won convincing singles rubbers and with the Allonby brothers as ever teaming up well to take the No. 1 doubles, Collingwood took the points needed to take them to top of the league.
