Collingwood Tennis Club boys top league

Collingwood Tennis Club’s boys 12 and under team top the Northumberland League with three wins from three after last weekend’s victory over Blaydon.

The team of Ponthus Thorley, Tom Walsh, Sam Thompson and Josh Barnaby won all matches in a decisive 6-0 victory.

Collingwood’s mini red team, despite being very young for the league, enjoyed their first victory of the season over Cullercoats with Sam Cottrell and Evie Tones winning all matches and William Blacklidge taking three out of four rubbers in a close victory.

Collingwood’s girls 16s also performed well in a 5-1 win over Shotley in the Northumberland League with No. 1 Amy Hedworth unlucky to lose in a shoot-out, although Mia Wallace, Jasmine Hacioglu and Molly Robinson all enjoyed straight set wins to help move Collingwood up the league.
