Collingwood Tennis Club’s girls’ 14s team top the Aegon Northeast League after a hard fought victory over Sunderland Tennis Centre last weekend.

Laura Van Ransbeke and Mia Wallace won singles games for Collingwood and Wallace teamed up well with Molly Robinson to take the their doubles while Van Ransbeke and Anna Winship lost a close doubles to make the score even.

However, the combination of Van Ransbeke’s power and Mia Wallace’s speed around court was enough to win the shoot out for Collingwood 10-6.

Collingwood boys’ 16s also had a good victory over Cullercoats with Olly Drake Tom Ridley and Miles Pearson winning their singles.

Sam Allonby was unlucky in his game but made up for it when pairing up with Drake to take their doubles in three sets for a 5-1 win to top the Aegon league.

Collingwood boys’ 12s enjoyed a strong 6-0 victory over Sunderland Tennis Centre with Gabe Allonby, Sam Thompson and Josh Harrison all winning comfortable singles matches.

Matt Smith had a tougher time but showed determination in coming through in three sets.

With doubles games won in two sets Collingwood are set up well for a shot at top of the table Virgin Active Wearside.
