North Shields Crusaders travelled to play against Seghill Deputies.
With neither clubs’ first teams in action and the Tyne-Wear derby football match taking place, both teams features a few first team players to make up the numbers.
The Crusaders were led by prop Chris Allott, Jack Rendles returned at scrum half while Ben Dalton filled in on the wing. Former North Shields player Brad Glennie lined up at scrum-half against his old side for the hosts.
In the first half the Crusaders played the best rugby and took the lead with a try from centre Ryan Ramsey. Jeff Burke added a second try and with both conversions missed the Crusaders took a 10-0 lead into half-time.
The second half was a more scrappy affair and the two evenly matches sides could not break through the opponents defence. A pointless half saw the Crusaders end up 10-0 winners.
The clean sheet means the Crusaders have now only conceded five points this year.
This weekend the Crusaders return to league action with a trip to Winlaton Vulcans, kick-off 2.15pm.
