Cullercoats Tennis Club boys’ 12s team started their Aegon Northeast campaign with a 10-2 victory over Forest Hall last weekend.
Joe Angus and Dom Gunning won their singles comfortably to give Cullercoats a good lead.
Team newcomers Thomas Clark and Matt McCamley won their opening doubles in a tense third set 11-9 and followed it up by winning both their singles in straight sets to give Cullercoats the victory 10-2 overall.
Cullercoats boys’ 16s had a fine victory over Stocksfield on Sunday.
Joe Angus was back on court for his third match of the weekend and played some excellent tennis in an age group three steps up, winning in straight sets.
With Ryan Maughan, Alfie Briggs and Tom Whiting Adams also winning their singles and doubles comfortably, Cullercoats stay near the top of the league.
Cullercoats men’s team travelled all the way to Ilkley for an Aegon regional game and came away with all the points after Rory Thompson and Dan Simpson had good opening singles wins.
Sam Lemberger and Jordan Simpson had tough opposition in the singles but came up with a vital doubles win which combined with Simpson and Thompson’s doubles win meant the points were Cullercoats’.
Cullercoats men’s Aegon team currently sit second in the regional table behind David Lloyd Leeds.
