Badminton players in the north east who would like to play against different people in a friendly, social atmosphere, have the ideal opportunity to do so next month.
The North Tyneside Badminton Partnership is running its fourth Adult Social Badminton Tournament on Sunday, March 9, at John Spence Community High School Sports Hall in North Shields, where there are eight courts.
The tournament is open to anyone aged 16 and over, provided that they do not play on any club league teams or represent the county.
The first three tournaments were highly successful and enjoyable, with a large age range amongst the players who took part.
Events on the day will comprise both ladies’ and men’s doubles and mixed doubles.
All games will initially be played in groups so that everyone is assured of plenty of matches.
The tournament will start at 1pm with ladies’ and men’s doubles, with the mixed doubles beginning at around 3pm.
Play is scheduled to finish at 5pm.
Prizes will be awarded to all winners and the runners-up.
The entry fees have been kept as low as possible – £5 per player for one event, or £8 for two events.
Volunteers from Bewicke Badminton Club, which plays at John Spence, will be helping with the running of the tournament.
The closing date for entries is Monday, March 3.
The entry form can be downloaded from the North Tyneside Badminton Partnership’s Facebook page – www.facebook.com/NTBadmintonPartnership – or from the Northumberland Badminton Association website at www.northumberlandbadminton.org or by emailing the tournament secretary firstname.lastname@example.org
