Collingwood Girls 14 and under team sit top of the Northeast League after a good 5-1 win over Beverly park last weekend.
Eleanor King made a fantastic winning debut for Collingwood Tennis Club girls’ team winning her first match in a doubles with Lucy Cox. Cox also won her no3 singles comfortably to give Collingwood a good lead.
Mia Wallace and Libby Hall at 1 and 2 singles were too strong for their opposition but were tested much more in close doubles with the Collingwood pair coming out 12-10 final set victors.
Collingwood Boys 14s team also top the Northeast league after last weekend’s 6-0 victory over Blaydon with Gabe Allonby, Matt Smith, Josh Harrison and Sam Thompson all winning each match without dropping a set.
Coillingwood mini orange 9 and under team of Polly Allonby, Adam Jones, Ethan Veitch and Elizabeth Graham had a tougher time against a very strong Ponteland team with Elizabeth Graham winning a singles for Collingwood in a 9-1 reverse.
Collingwood’s mini red team also struggled against Ponteland with Laurie and Sam Cottrell making their debuts and playing some excellent tennis for their first competitive game.
