Seven junior members of Wallsend’s Bushido Judo Kwai competed at the Butokokan Judo Invitational Competition held at Newbiggin Sports Centre.

And they performed well, taking home three gold, one bronze and three runner-up medals.

Jack Barnett, Zac Ellerby and Jessica Cairns were the gold medal winners, Jack Compton won the bronze medal with Lydia Bamford, Adam Bamford and Sean Clements all receiving runner-up medals in what was an excellent day of judo.

The Bushido Judo Kwai is based at King’s Estate Residents Association hall, Millfield Avenue, King’s Estate, Wallsend.

Anyone who is interested in joining would need to be between the ages of eight and 16. Training takes place between 6.30pm and 8pm on Monday and Friday nights, the first lesson is free.
