WALLSEND Harriers had one of the most successful days in their history at the North Eastern Veterans Cross Country Championship on Saturday, held at Foxhunters fields in North Tyneside.
The course was mainly flat but strong winds and one deceiving hill made it tough for competitors.
Club chairman Terry O’Gara led by example to retain his over-65 title in majestic style.
In the ladies event, Emma Walton took bronze in the over-35s with club mate Chrystal Skeldon takign silver over-40s.
The pair were backed up by Kathryn Robertson, Ruth Marshall and Julie Hind and claimed the championship title for the first time in their history.
