SEVEN students from Battle Hill Judo Club entered the Northumberland Association of Clubs for Young People’s annual judo competition held at the Parks Sports Centre.

Wallsend-based brothers Owen and Joe Moody won two fights each to meet each other in the final of the primary boys under 20kg event, with Joe pipping his younger brother to take the gold.

This was quickly followed by their sister Megan, who won the silver in the primary girls over 30kg category.

Sean Young and Chloe Harris, also from Wallsend, both gave good performances to gain runner-up awards in the primary under 25 and under 30 groups.

Kieran Tweedy, from Seghill, won two of three fights in the junior boys under 40kg event, with some excellent judo to gain the silver.

Tonicha Brown, of Cramlington, gave a solid performance against strong opposition in the junior girls over 50kg category and also gained a silver award.
