Judo clubs’ coaches shine under the national spotlight

COACHING staff from Battlehill and Seghill judo clubs were tutored and examined by Dermot Heslop 6th Dan, British Judo Association (BJA) Technical Officer, who travelled up from York.

Both clubs have been affiliated to the BJA within the last 12 months, while all coaching staff have completed qualifications.

The coaches involved were: Battlehill – Malcolm Young 4th Dan, Steve Smith 1st Dan, Damien Anderson 1st Dan, Kris Anderson 1st Dan, Billy Snowdon 1st Dan, Thomas Dugdale 1st Kyu.

Seghill – Kevin Corden 2nd Dan and Robert Stuart 1st Kyu. Both Thomas and Robert have completed their technical Dan grade requirements and will be required to undertake a competitive grading to complete their Black Belt assessments.

Battlehill and Seghill Judo Clubs are the only British Judo affiliated clubs in the Wallsend and Cramlington areas and train on Monday, Wednesday and Sundays.
