A GROUP of members from Whitley Bay Golf Club have closed their winter season with a new winner of their annual Henry Trophy.

Keith Johnson finished the season to take the trophy with an average score of 31.51 stableford points.

He was pursued closely by newcomer Robin Christopher who finished on 31.14.

Johnson started on a handicap of nine but with five wins played his final round was off a handicap of five.

The reduction in his handicap did not hold him back, though, as he cemented his win with a strong 39 points, which included an eagle one at the 14th.

Forty points was the maximum score throughout the winter, achieved by John Royce, Mark Hudson, and twice by Godfrey Weir.
