A young speedway star has been showing one of his idols what he gets up to in school.

Newcastle Speedway’s mascot Archie Freeman spent Wednesday morning showing Newcastle Diamonds’ number one rider Ludvig Lindgren around Bailey Green Primary School in Killingworth.

The nine-year-old spends weekends donning his racing suit and racing his 125cc speedway bike around Brough Park and other northern tracks.

Archie’s love of speedway started three years ago when Dave Rowland, junior development officer, held one of his training schools during the summer teaching youngsters how to ride a variety of bikes.
