Marden Bridge Middle School are celebrating after being named KS2 Whitley Bay Indoor Athletics champions.
The girls won a tight competition by a point while the boys won convincingly by more than 100 points against other schools.
The pupils will now represent North Tyneside at the county event in January.
Elsewhere, the Year 7 teams – both boys and girls – also secured places in the county finals by finishing North Tyneside runners-up.
And the icing on the cake was completed a week later when the Year 8 girls won their own North Tyneside event outright to secure a county final spot.
All pupils at the school took part in the trials as part of a new block of work which included running, jumping and throwing encompassing hard competition in a friendly supportive environment.
Deputy headteacher John Newport said: “We are really pleased with the Year 6 boys and girls, they have put great efforts into this and have reaped the rewards.”
