Seven students from Battlehill Judo Club competed in the Coloured Belt and Black Belt Championship at Kendal.
First up were the juniors where Jenni Francis, Ellie Hutton and Sean Young won all of their fights each taking away Gold medals for their efforts.
Although Kieran Hardaker came up against competitors of much higher grades, he put in a great effort and claimed the Bonze medal in a hard fought pool.
The seniors were up later in the day with Paul Coupland and John Stone up against each other in the Men’s Kyu Grade Open. Paul just managed to get the better of John in a close fought fight to take the Silver medal with john finishing in a well deserved third place for the Bronze medal.
Finally it was Leah Anastasi’s turn to take to the mat, she was a glutton for punishment and entered both the Women’s Kyu Grade Open and also stepped up to enter the Women’s Dan Grade Open. Leah did amazingly well and came away with Bronze medals in both categories bringing a final medal tally for the day to three Gold, one Silver and four Bronze.
