WHITLEY Bay Mohawks started their season against Flintshire.
And the Mohawks opened the scoring after 75 seconds through Adam Finlinson, who added a second seven minutes later.
Flintshire did not have time to regroup before Ben Shell got his first of the season. And this was followed by two more from Finlinson.
The visitors managed to pull one back then Finlinson took his tally to six with two more early in the second period before he scored a coast-to-coast goal and Shell grabbed his second.
Flintshire began a mini-fightback with three goals either side of another strike by Finlinson.
Mohawks captain Craig Johnson extended Whitley’s lead again before Flintshire scored three in 90 seconds.
But that was as good as it got for Flintshire as Finlinson found the back of the net again, followed up by two from Callum Stephenson for an emphatic 14-6 victory.
