More than 100 compete in Basttlehill Judo Club competition

Battlehill Judo Club had an eventful weekend hosting a judo course grading on Saturday and their own British Judo Association Level 2 competition on Sunday at Blue Flames Sports Ground in Benton.

The course was led by Judo 6th Dan Chloe Cowen, a four-time British champion, five time European medallist and former Olympian, assisted by Shodan Leah Anastasi.

The course was attended by North Tyneside and Northumberland students from Battlehill, Hangaku, Fordley and Botokokan Judo Clubs.

Students were examined for their grade promotions by Steve Smith, Simon McKenzie, Billy Snowdon and Malcolm Young.

The competition was well attended by 108 competitors representing 17 clubs from around the area.

Battlehill Judo Club results were – gold: Maddox Fuller, Kate Sturrock, Elisha Fitzpatrick; silver: Glenn Edgar, Liam Wylie, Ellis Lye, Charlie Hutton; bronze: Harrison Short, Lewis Gray, John Lloyd, Kieron Hardaker, Tony Harvey, Erica Watson, Neomi Young, Charlie Clarke, Daniel Watson, Real Thoophome, Rhys Hardaker.
