North Shields Artisans lost out to Tynedale Vets in the county cup semi-final.
Artisans were led by Tony Lion who was joined in the back row by Ricky Handa and Andrew Leitch making his return to rugby after over a year out.
In the first half Tynedale had the wind advantage but some good defence from Artisans saw a scoreless first quarter.
Tynedale eventually broke through to score a try but failed with the conversion attempt.
The home side were down to 14 men with a player in the sin bin before half-time, but more good defence kept Tynedale from adding any further points and making the interval score 5-0 to the visitors.
The second half saw the wind conditions ease and Tynedale scored first to extend their lead to 12-0.
Artisans scored a try from prop Matthew Carney but it was Tynedale’s afternoon as a they added a further converted try to win 19-5.
The North Shields man of the match award went to Sam Condie for standing in at short notice at prop, but it was a hard decision as everyone played well against a strong side.
