Easter Sunday sees American football team Northumberland Lightning start their first ever National League campaign as they host the Glasgow Tigers at Ashington Rec Ground.

The club will play ten fixtures in the Northern Football Conference Division II North, facing off against the likes of Newcastle Vikings, Aberdeen Roughnecks, Dundee Hurricanes, West Coast Trojans and Glasgow.

Coming off the side’s first ever victory in a 9-0 pre-season win over Humber Warhawks, confidence is high, but the standard of the division is very strong and Lightning expect a tough season.

Sunday’s game kicks-off at 2.30pm and entrance is free.
