A young motorcycle star is setting the world alight after securing a podium finish.

Billy Bolt took part in the latest round of the World Cup Trials Championship, which was held in the Czech Republic.

And the 17-year-old, from Wallsend, managed to secure two second places over the two day event, leaving him in fourth place in the championship standings.

The podium success follows close on the heels of the Adult British Championships, where he secured third place at the event hosted by Scarborough District Motorclub.

In the sixth round of the RT Keedwell sponsored British Trials Championship, Billy securing his first adult championship podium.

In a hectic part of the season, Billy took part in the Scottish Six Day trial at the beginning of May, winning the Best Newcomer award and Best Rider on a machine under 200cc.

Having secured £6,000 from a crowd funding platform to help raise funds towards his travel expenses, Billy is looking to compete in all of the world rounds including France, America, Portugal, England, Andorra, Sweden, and Belgium.

Bill said: “This is such an important year for me and my riding, I have worked my entire life to get this far. I am totally humbled by the support people have given me and cannot thank them enough.

“At the beginning of the year, I wasn’t sure if competing at world level was financially possible but with everyones help it has become a dream come true.”

Despite studying for his A-levels at Monkseaton High School, Billy is hoping his performances this year will help secure a professional contract.
