A young mini moto star was given a police escort to get to his latest event in time after his transport broke down.
Cody Johnson had been on his way to the Scottish Round of the Mini Moto championship being held at Warden Law in Sunderland when they broke down on the A19 near Sunderland.
A passing police car held two the vehicle off the road while they waited for a breakdown van turned up.
After hearing the Cody had less than 30 minutes to get to the circuit and sign in, the police officers volunteered to take Cody and his mother to the circuit so he could register in time.
And their efforts paid off, with Cody securing second his in class – earning a move up to the faster class where he finished 11th in the race.
Cody’s grandfather Eddie Johnson said: “This was a real helpful act by Northumbria Police and very much appreciated.
“The race meeting was sponsored by the Bikewise mini bike club which is run by Durham Constabulary.”
