WHITLEY Bay Rockcliff RFC hosted two Northumberland Rugby Union finals last Saturday; in the final of the number two competition Percy Park Lions played Morpeth Edwardians for the Senior Shield, and in the number five competition Percy Park IV played Tynedale Veterans for the Junior Challenge Trophy.
Percy Park Lions had progressed to their final after beating Corbridge Centurions 33-7 and Alnwick II XV in the earlier rounds, whilst Morpeth had made it to the final after defeating Gosforth Phoenix 27-7 and narrowly beating Northern Wanderers 19-17. In the final itself Percy Park ran out 29-17 winners against Morpeth.
Tynedale Veterans had progressed to their final following a 29-0 semi final win over Northern III, and Percy Park IV defeated Seghill Deputies 33-15 to make it through. Tynedale prevailed in the final, with a score of 23-15.

The Vikings clinched a tight game at Hillheads against local rivals North Shields, with Dan Johnstone crossing the line twice to score, and man of the match Jack Lambert adding a further try for Rockcliff. Rob Burns slotted home one conversion to complete Rockcliffs scoring.
