Rockcliff lose after six weeks of inactivity

ROCKCLIFF played their first game in six weeks but lost out to visitors Consett.

Consett opened the scoring with a penalty but Rockcliff pressed the visitors back into their 22 with a series of drives for the line and were finally awarded a penalty which Rikki Briggs converted.

The visitors then stepped up the gears and forced Rockcliff back, eventually winning a penalty in front of the posts which they converted for 6-3.

With their tails up, Consett pressed home the advantage and notched two tries, one of which was converted for an 18-3 lead at half time.

Early in the second half they increased their lead with a further converted try for 25-5.

Rockcliff rallied and gained increasing amounts of possession but could not find a way through the Consett defence until finally Briggs rounded off a good passing phase to score on the right side of the posts for 25-8.
