Teeing up for try at simulator

Golfers are getting into the swing of things thanks to a simulator at a golf club.

John McKenna, professional at Tynemouth Golf Club, has re-launched his teaching studio following investment in a Sports Coach Systems GPS golf simulator.

The simulator allows up to four golfers to practice or play one of the 50 top golf courses in the world, including Augusta and Carnoustie.

John said: “I am delighted to offer enhanced indoor facilities for golfers of all levels of ability.

“Whilst we have a Sport England funded purpose built outdoor practice area with covered bays there are occasions when it is preferable to be indoors and if your course is closed golfers can still play world class courses in an hour.

“The Studio also supports initiatives such as ‘Get into Golf’ and the Junior Academy where we have some 50 young aspiring golfers from the age of five coming to the club for the four to five outdoor sessions we offer through the week starting each April.”

The Teaching Studio is open to members and non‐members seven days a week from 9am to 5pm. To book contact the Pro Shop on (0191) 258 0728 or drop in.
